About Us
The goal of Family Golf Life is to create opportunities for golfers and families to be outside spending quality time together. The score is just a number.
Our Mission is to:
- Create a world-class learning environment for the special needs community with love and respect of each participating individual.
- We will create an atmosphere of inclusion, dignity, and respect while enriching lives with golf as an outdoor recreation one person at a time.
Our Vision is to:
Create opportunities for families with kids with intellectual disabilities to learn a new sport. Through our golf learning clinics and playing opportunities, the FGL staff will create a positive learning environment for the whole family.
We value diversity and promote equality.

Where we started.
Coaching + Nurishing Clemson Life Students.
Clemson Life stands out as a unique college program, providing a positive college and learning environment for kids with intellectual disabilities. In the role of the golf instructor at Clemson University, Scott Womble had the privilege of welcoming some Clemson Life students into the Leisure Studies Golf Classes. These students significantly influenced Scott Womble's approach to golf instruction, impacting players across all skill levels, from beginners to the advanced.
With a wealth of experience spanning over 40 years in the golf business, Scott Womble attests that these kids have transformed his entire approach to golf instruction.
Eager to embrace a new sport, these students reveled in the outdoor golf course experience, side by side with their peers. Recognizing the potential intimidation of golf, particularly for beginners, Scott Womble witnessed the transformation of many Clemson Life students as they developed new golf skills, finding joy and social engagement in the sport.
While some had prior exposure to golf as a recreational family activity, others did not. Scott Womble observed that, for many, the golf classes became a one-time experience, with little to no continuation of golf in their future plans. Recognizing the need for change, Scott Womble committed to a broader mission—not merely teaching golf skills to kids but empowering entire families to embrace an outdoor sporting activity that is both challenging and enjoyable.
Family Golf Life is born from this commitment, aspiring to create opportunities for golfers and families to spend quality time together outdoors. Here, the score is simply a number, and the focus is on the shared experience of being together and enjoying the challenges and fun of the game. FGL's primary goal is to establish a world-class positive learning environment for the whole family to relish. It's not about the score—it's about having fun with the family outdoors.
